Who and what is a Lay Responder?
A lay responder is someone who responds to an emergency but has minimal training to do so. A lay responder can be an important part of treatment!
Who and What is a Professional Responder?
Generic term referring to the first medically trained responder to arrive on scene (police, fire, EMS). Many police and firefighters must be at least First Responders. This is the required level of training.
BLS - Basic Life Support
Students will learn single-rescuer and team basic life support for adults, children and infants through skills practice, scenarios and a written test. Participants will learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Course also teaches relief of choking.
